Maulbronn Monastery, founded 1147 by Cistercians, is the best-preserved medieval monastery complex in Europe.
The coin, which was designed by Eugen Ruhl, presents the interior of the fountain house or lavatorium,
besides the western facade of the convent church with its atrium, named paradise.
Since 1993 the monastery is part of the Unesco World Heritage.
