2016 Italy 2 euro commemorative coin:
550th anniversary of the death of Donatello.
Donato di Niccolò di Betto Bardi, better known as Donatello, was an early Renaissance sculptor from Florence.
The center of the coin depicts the head of the bronze sculpture titled David. Donatellos work was completed around 1440 and it is currently displayed at the Bargello Museum in Florence.
To the left the inscribed initials IR of the issuing country (Italy) and the years of commemoration 1466 and 2016,
Above the head the mintmark of the Italian mint in Rome R and to the right the initials CM of the designer.
The coin's outer ring depicts the 12 stars of the European flag.
