began as a morning daily paper in competition with two other Indianapolis dailies, the Indianapolis Journal and the

evening paper the Indianapolis News. In 1999, The News ceased publication, leaving The Star as the only major daily

newspaper. The Star has won the Pulitzer Prize twice for investigative reporting. In 1975, The Star was honored

in the nation. The Pulliam Production Center, which houses the presses, cost $72 million. There are four presses,
each weighing 2,100 lbs., and seven stories high. Each press prints 75,000 papers an hour. With all four presses

Bucyrus Telegraph Forum
Bucyrus (pronounced /bju??sa?r?s/)[3] is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county
seat of Crawford County,[4] located in northern Ohio approximately 28 miles (45 km) west of Mansfield. The population
was 13,224 at the 2000 census. The city is the largest in Crawford County, and the center of the Bucyrus Micropolitan
Statistical Area (as defined by the United States Census Bureau in 2003). According to James Croneis, former editor
of the newspaper Bucyrus Telegraph-Forum, the name "Bucyrus" was derived from “Beautiful” and “Cyrus the Great",
King of Persia by Col. James Kilbourne, who platted the community, making it the first community in the United
States to use the name.
Chillicothe Gazette
The Chillicothe Gazette, Ohio's oldest newspaper, published daily at Chillicothe, Ohio,
the seat of Ross County, Ohio, by the Gannett Company. The paper was founded as a weekly at Cincinnati, Ohio, then
the capital of the Northwest Territory, November 9, 1793 as the Centinel of the Northwest Territory. It decamped to

Publishing Company (OPUBCO), controlled by Edward K. Gaylord, also known as E.K. Gaylord. E.K. Gaylord died at the age of
101, having controlled the newspaper for the previous 71 years. Management of the newspaper passed to his son,
Edward L. Gaylord, who managed the newspaper from 1974 to 2003. Christy Gaylord Everest, daughter of Edward L. Gaylord
and granddaughter of E.K. Gaylord, is chairman and chief executive for the Oklahoma Publishing Company, which publishes
The Oklahoman. Gaylord Everest is assisted by her sister Louise Gaylord Bennett. The newspaper has faced criticism.
A 1998 American Journalism Review survey acknowledged The Oklahoman's positive contributions as a corporate citizen of
Oklahoma, but characterized the paper as suffering from understaffing, uninspired content, and political bias.
Until Feb. 29, 1984, OPUBCO published an afternoon daily newspaper, the Oklahoma City Times. It was folded into the
Daily Oklahoman beginning with the March 1, 1984, issue. The Oklahoman was formerly available for delivery statewide,
but in November 2008 it announced that it was reducing its circulation area to cover approximately two-thirds of the
state, and that it would no longer be available for delivery in Tulsa, Oklahoma's second-largest city. The change
reduced the paper's circulation by about 7,000 homes. In January 2009, the Oklahoman and the Tulsa World
announced a content-sharing agreement in which each paper would carry some content created by the other;

Memphis Commercial Appeal
The paper's unusual name comes from a 19th century merger between two predecessors, the
Memphis Commercial and the Appeal. The Appeal had an interesting history during the American Civil War. On June 6, 1862,
the presses and plates were loaded into a boxcar and moved to Grenada, Mississippi. The Appeal later journeyed to Jackson,
Mississippi, Meridian, Mississippi, Atlanta, Georgia, and finally Montgomery, Alabama, where the plates were destroyed on
April 6, 1865, only days before the Confederate surrender, halting publication temporarily of what had been one of the
major papers serving the Southern cause. The press was hidden and saved, and publication resumed in Memphis, using it,
on November 5, 1865. Another early paper, The Avalanche, was incorporated later in the 19th century. The paper is properly
The Commercial Appeal and not the Memphis Commercial Appeal as it is often called, although the predecessor Appeal was
formally the Memphis Daily Appeal.
